De La Soul (/ˌdeɪ lɑː ˈ-/) is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987 in the Amityville area of Long Island, New York. They are best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres. The members are Posdnuos, Trugoy and Maseo. The three formed the group in high school and caught the attention of producer Prince Paul with a demo tape of the song "Plug Tunin'"

Say No Go. This song is by De La Soul and appears on the album 3 Feet High and Rising (1989).

De La Soul are just about the only rap group I can say are almost "perfect". De La Soul have made more unique and original material than I can count. De La Soul stopped making albums for four years and then released 'Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump' which wasn't as acclaimed as the other albums but was still very good.

De La Soul's debut album 3 Feet High and Rising is a rap landmark: A free-thinking, kaleidoscopic record that expanded hip-hop's palette with goofy sketches, socially-conscious lyrics and samples from Johnny Cash and Steely Dan. Songs like Eye Know and The Magic Number are classics, but you cannot stream them. The same goes for the follow-up, De La Soul Is Dead, and almost all of the band's subsequent releases. It's really heart-wrenching," says Kelvin Mercer, aka Posdnuos, De La Soul's laid-back, loquacious spokesman.
