The Black Album is the sixteenth studio album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on November 22, 1994, by Warner Bros.
The Album was finally given a limited release in November 1994.
Originally scheduled for release in November of 1987 - following the double-album Sign o' the Times by a matter of months - Prince pulled The Black Album weeks before its release, guaranteeing it near-mythic status. The Black Album" is the 16th full-length studio album by Prince. It's known as "The Black Album" due to its plain black sleeve, which contains no information apart from the catalogue number printed on the spine in peach letters. The sticker on the 1994 release labeled it "The legendary Black Album". It was originally intended to be released on 8 December 1987, but was canceled at Prince's request just prior to release (on 1 December 1987)
The infamous album that Prince shunned himself, TBA is one heck of a listen. Rightfully the first to be called "The Black Album" (take that Jay-Z, and Metallica), this LP has no official title. It is also often referred to as "The Funk Bible". Whichever you decide to call it, it is recommended one gets their hands on it, as it is indeed funky and in your face. As if Prince wasn't a dirty, funky perv to begin with, this album drips with all things nasty
The Black Album (Jay-Z album). The Black Album is the eighth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released on November 14, 2003, by Roc-A-Fella Records. It was advertised as his final album before retiring, which is also a recurring theme throughout the songs, although Jay-Z resumed his recording career in 2006.
