Time Out is a studio album by the American jazz group the Dave Brubeck Quartet, released in 1959 on Columbia Records. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City, it is based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz such as 98, 64 and 54. The album is a subtle blend of cool and West Coast jazz. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard pop albums chart, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

Mentally Dave Brubeck has always meant Paul Desmond for me. When we lost Paul I became more selective in my Brubeck purchases that had a sax player until now. I rediscovered Dave Brubeck with this CD. Bobby Militellow, . ax, is a ball with all of his references to other charts within the chart. It is obvious Dave is have a great time also as he brings a whole new dimension to his arrangements. Someday My Prince Will Come is worth the price of this CD alone. No matter how many times you have heard this by Brubeck, you have not heard it like this
The 40th Anniversary Tour of the . "Goodbye Old Friend" was written by Brubeck in tribute to saxophonist Gerry Mulligan, his friend and collaborator . After 40 years, Brubeck's creative genius continues his contributions of rhythmic complexity and remarkable improvisation.
